Then it is necessary to have the right knowledge of explosion hazards and the risks and measures associated with them. The ATEX Basic Principles (Ex 001) course is a safety training course that will give you the right specialized knowledge and skills.

Who is this training course for"?

Do you work in an environment with explosion hazards, for example as a mechanic, inspector, designer or auditor in the paint industry, food industry or chemistry? And would you like to learn the basics of explosion hazard issues? Then the ATEX Basics (Ex 001) training course is for you!

Prior knowledge

No prior technical education is required for this e-learning.

Inhoud

You will learn all about the following topics during this course:

  • ATEX 114 and 153 legislation
  • ATEX 114 certification schemes, explosion protection documents, marking
  • Properties of flammable gases
  • The nature of explosive atmospheres: definitions, methods for classifying into zones
  • Principles and operation of protection methods for electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Visible conditions, actions and defects on equipment that pose a hazard to explosion safety
  • Responsibilities such as work permits, safety procedures and measures and use of gas detection
  • The role of various parties, including plant owner, installers, designers and insurers
  • Specific requirements to work in the explosion hazard area

Study LoadThe study load for this training is 9 hours, comprising 7 hours of training and an estimated 2 hours of preparation per course day. Questions, cases and assignments can be accessed through the online learning environment.

Did you complete this online course? You will receive proof of participation: ‘ATEX basics (Ex 001)’.

In addition, you can choose to complete the course with a written exam. If you pass the exam, you will receive an official written proof (an attestation) ‘IECEx 05 – Unit of competence – apply basic principles of protection in explosive atmospheres’.

With this certificate and with a evidence file (documents in which your work experience is recorded by your employer) you can request a personal certificate that complies with the international IECEx 05 certification scheme from Royal PBNA. This makes it possible to work internationally as well.
